1 – Never really got into Beach House before. I hear people say that Bloom is not as good as Teen Dream but I am liking Bloom and I never much felt like listening to Teen Dream. But that probably says more about me now than it does about Teen Dream then.

2 – Heavy Petting is the album. It's 8 tracks of heavy garage electronics and swooshy blurs and it hits hard. It's all nubile and exciteable and just like exciteable nubiles it's totally ephemeral so get it now while it's hot. Released on AMDISCS on cassette, but also name your price on their Bandcamp: http://nudity.bandcamp.com/

3 – I loved the ep they put out a few years ago and this is the long-overdue album. All it does it pack out the great ep tracks with underwhelming sugary chillwavey pop stuff. Bit pointless really, but nice enough to have in the background.

4 – I went to the label Vwyrd Wurd's Bandcamp to get some mossy naturalistic black metal in the form of Nocht The Only Gouls (which I did and it's genuinely forest-is-coming-alive-to-take-you creeped out and buzzing) but I also got the only other releases they have – two albums by weirdo-electronic-avant-pop solo producer Daywand – and they're great. 0 plays / 0 listeners on last.fm. He's got 1 now and you should make it many more (7?) http://vwyrdwurd.bandcamp.com

5 – Had a Ty Segall frenzy off the back of the White Fence collab.

6a – itunes started playing itself, played through this and Advisory Circle. I wasn't there to hear them.

6b – Outta sight garage psych that's got everything from sweet pop to electrical storms in its eight tracks. A whole lotta harmony, a whole lotta groove, this is how rock music should sound.

9 – This is also how rock music should sound.

10 – Five plays of the three track ep that came out last year. The manage to roll out an atmosphere of threatening murk in just a single minute, stretching out the dystopian gloom to an industrial strength two minutes on the title track. 1 – I finally got this album after seeing it in these last.fm charts so much over the last month. It’s really great.  Love the way the songs build and layer up rhythm and melody adding twists over really short times, sounds really fun to play, his vocals are ridiculously harsh but controlled and I like a lot of the lyrics.  Very good well done.

2 – What I just wrote for Cloud Nothings holds true for Turbowolf too, but it‘s a different kind of rock musics.

3 – Been playing Twin Cinema a lot after Andrzej reminded me of them in that thread I did t’other day. I had indeed forgotten just how great it is.

4 – One of the albums that would have been in my top 50 of 20-11 had I heard it in time.  The production is brilliant, and his character is so well defined, slightly out-of step with anything else I have heard (which isn’t that much tbh, but I get the sense that his self-deprecation is pretty uncommon)

5 – Pretty much addicted to DMT, it’s official.  361 plays this year.

6 – I’m really not sure how much I am enjoying Open Your Heart.  It’s nowhere near as exciting as Leave Home and the songs all seem a bit simpler. I liked the unpredictability of Leave Home, and the distortion, it made it all a lot more dangerous. 

7 – Drone, tribal beats, heady temperatures.

8 – Getting into this now.

9 – Been spending a lot of time at the top of Everest with Max.

10 – Gnarly & ghastly.

1 - Side project from guitarist & drummer of Tame Impala. It's not all great, or even good, but what I like, I like a hell of a lot.
2 – This is really lovely bejewelled (natch) pop music. So much sleeker and sexier than her last album.
3 – This guy sent me his album for the blog. Will be writing it up very soon, it's pretty excellent psychedelic electronic Brainfeeder kind of stuff

5 – Finally got this after my thread asking for fun clean upbeat music. It's not really that upbeat though, it's a bit too serious and sombre to really fit the remit of what I wanted in that thread – beyond that, it's great. Error's pulse beats hard.
6 & 9b appearing again proving I am nothing if not a habitual listener.

7 – This was another thing I picked up from my fun/upbeat thread. And this is exactly what I wanted! One of the kinds of things I wanted anyway. One of the tracks really reminds me of Wookie. Fun times. Juke party music I can blast. Get some footwork in.
8 – Going to see them in April at the Erased Tapes night at Brighton festival. Cannot wait, it;s going to be incredible.
9 – brilliant little 4-track ep of Eastern European styled cold northern darkness
9c – Another blog entry to come – second full ep from this London based rural-psych-drone duo. A tiny bit like Golau Glau, a tiny bit like Boards of Canada – but neither of those entirely helpful.

1 – New album is utterly beautiful. Trying to define it into further words would be like pinning a butterfly to a cork board.

3 – Final album from 'Yorba Zergot''s Fauxmusica guise, before moving on to a a project with the Peach Tree called Sacred Star. Witch House as it was always meant to be – challenging, cryptic, subversive, uncompromising, unlistenable.

4 – New self-released ep from these upcoming garage rockers. More streamlined and cleaner than their last one, but still hairy and full-speed.

5 – see 3, but double its potency for the two-headed beast it is.

8 – Really not as good as Sean's review had me believe, which is a shame because I was with him all the way on his Blondes one. It's just too insubstantial. Indie disco shoegaze that's flighty and weightless instead of involving and ethereal.

10 – First new material in years from these guys who I played a lot in the early days of doing NFR. They've been working with One Unique Signal's Byron to get a sound similarly Telescopic to theirs, which is a very good thing.

1 – Can't stop listening to Conatus. Amazing. Well worth holding out on Witch House for this to arrive. What? Yes it is. IT SURROUNDS EVERYTHING.

2 – They were good at End of the Road and the album is pretty enjoyable too. Nothing spectacular though but easy to throw on when I'm not paying attention, hence the plays.\

3 – Impossible to ignore this when it's on, just sucks you in and zones you out. Psychedelic Swedish techno via Kompakt. The title track is unbelievable.

4 – Who knew they had a new album? Not me Now I do. It's no Contino Sessions.

5 – Strange Mercy has a couple of great tracks – Northern Lights especially – but it's not that great. Not as good as the EMA album.

6 – Booooooorrrrrriiiiiing.

7 – Baroque, dreamy melancholic reverb-washed pop solo artist. Another one? Yes. This one seems like a keeper.

8 – Going to be one of my albums of the year. So sensual. (incidentally, it's October – we have to get started on our AOTY about now don't we?)

9a – Loud Planes Fly Low released in June is still getting a lot of plays, which can only mean one thing; it;s very good.

9b – free audio book with the Guardian on Saturday. Syd wanted to listen to it while he ate dinner but it;s all about some mother and a cat dying. Not really much fun so he wanted to isten to Korn and Mastodon instead. Funny boy.

1 – still can't stop listening to Narrows. It's released next week and I expect to see it get hyped; Bowie / Numan retro style with nu-retro chillwave and more. Pretty addictive.

3 – Got their album after End of the Road. It's quite nice, got some good lyrics and lovely harmonies.

4 – Incredible classical drone album from Stars of the Lid member Adam Wiltzie and pianist Dustin O’Halloran, as you're probably already aware. On Friday night I played this then Nest, Balam Acab, Future Shuttle and FRKWYS Vol.7 one after the other and I think I did some permanent realigning of some neural networks.

6a – First couple of plays of Wander/Wonder and I think I might get hooked in. Doesn't sound like an electronic record at all, so lush and organic sounding; like he mic'd up a petri dish.

6b – Awesome psychedelic acid-folk album, similar if not better to all those 60's bands from UK and USA. Sounds like both sides of the pond and beyond.

8 – First full ep from NY based synth-space duo is a total trancer. Produced by Blondes, indebted to just about any synth player ever and very heavy on the gorgeous vocals.

9 – New WITTR. OMG! USBM FTW.

10 – The title track on Passed Me By is some kind of sublime elevated techno, no?

1 – Better than his first release earlier this summer. Updated chillwave. It's very nice indeed, and totally randomly has a song with a rainforest/jungle noises sample that is the exact same one that my baby's monkey alarm clock has.

2 – new mixtape/album is excellent. Full of great moments, phrasing, samples, soul and attitude. Kid could go far, whoever he/it/they/she is.

3 – Terrible name but good colourful pop music from Montreal.

4 – Not sure why this hasn;t registered more plays, it;s all I'm listenign to. Maybe the ipod's inconsistent scrobbling is to blame. Essential bedtime listening, totally dreamy. Lost a lot of the bouncy beats from last year's North Dorm ep, focussing heavily on the hypnagogic pop soporifics.

5 – An awesome band.

6 – New Ep about to be released on Disaro. His strongest yet for me, even bette than the Spectral Analysis ep.

7 – Undercurrent on Root Strata. Mesmerising.

8 – Crazy technicolour psych garage noise pop blow out. I think they literally threw everything the had at the wall and taped the results.

9 – I've been waiting 5 years for their second album, and they've finally dropped it: WeShouldHaveDestroyedOurGeneralsNotTheirEnemies. It's post-rock, if you couldn't tell from that title. And Lo it is good.

10a – Holcomb Drones. Up there with the Andy Stott album for electronic album of the year?

10b – Animal Collective / Deerhunter psych dream pop. Played it the last couple of mornings so not really got the chance hear it properly.

1 – New album released this month that beautifully develops, enhances and refines their ambient folk drone songwriting.

3 – Phenomenal – but subtly so – blend of drone, ambient and black metal. Vaguely similar to Nadja or The Angelic Process crossed with someone like Jon Porras.

1 – Thanks to noise_annoys for playing this in last week's .fm listings. As you can see, I like it a lot. Final track has such an awesome pace – it;s my power running track.

3 – Liking this a lot, very rich and intense feeling, though not getting hit with any of the strong hooks that For Emma had.

4 – This is all strong hooks.

5 – All plays of the new 4 track ep. Incredible. I only really liked one track of Love Remains, the whole album was a little dull but this orchestral ep is soul stirring.

6a – Sounds so much like Religious Knives I have checked more than once whether I was playing them instead. Dirgey, claustrophobic Australian drone.

1 – John Elliot & Sam Goldberg project. Astral oscillations on a higher plane. Love it.

2 – Playing Woods to death, really like the rest of the album. Boy/girl two piece - Ivan and Kelly - with a lot of orchestra in the back, so obviously more people involved somewhere. And it's out on Merge, so it's not minimal. Ivan vocals and the storytelling style is quite similar to Adam Green. Didn't imagine he'd have a legacy, but then again surely he would. Kelly vocals are really soulful and rich. Great stuff.

3 – Just me & M in the office this week, so I've had the laptop out. Doesn't scrobble though . Shame. Anyway, disintegrating hauntological tea-dance is surprisingly a massive hit.

4a – Galactic Melt is so good! Worth the punctuation. Synth tones are gorgeous, the beats are totally involved, track progression so subtle but dramatic it can whip smoothly from a pulse to glitch storm just of the back of a seconds bass hum.

4b – New Mother Network free download called χτέναφέρω. Yup. Kid just keeps 'em coming. This one is 'Moogy and depressing/regressing/encouraging seascapes' http://themothernetwork.bandcamp.com/

8a – Haven't listened to this properly, but a couple of tracks really did bite my attention hard.

8b – More of that crusty BM. Other project from He Who Crushes Teeth of Bone Awl – kings/dark princes of spiteful 2 minute blasts of life-enriching HATE!!! All their tapes are sold out, so how you get this into your blood stream is up to you, but if you like fast visceral distortion then you need this band.

10b – having said my In-Office plays don't scrobble I swear I only played this the once at work, so how is it here? Maybe they are. Apparently this album has a horrible bit in the middle. I must be totally numb, I have no idea were.

10c – With U is such a great record. Pity that is has an old track on it, but that's no complaint because Yr Love is one of the greatest witch house/cosmic drag whatevs related pieces of music – if not The Greatest. TriAngle on a roll with this, Clams Casino, and new Balam Acab.

3 – These plays should be in the hundreds. Amazing music to work to, to sleep to, to do pretty much anything to. Incredible what effects just the slightest amounts of distorting can achieve.

4 – New album exceeds expectations and Spirited Migration was in my top 20 when it came out, but this is something else. Got range, dynamics, a whole load of different sounds and a lot of guest spots, so much more than the minimal boy/girl Doom duo they were previously. Album on Profound Lore, what d'you expect?

5 – Don't really like this. Put this on when having dinner if the family get sick of eating to astral-funk and hauntological drone

6 – Follow up to Agbrigg Beast, even lower-fi, murkier. More upwardly aimed melodic hooks, more of that Yorkshire burl. Excellent UKBM.

7 – Chicago based noise rock outfit. Tape out now on Retrograde, destroys seven shades of speakers.

8 – Castlemania is ace. How would it not be?

9 – Absurdly good Dadaist avant-garde-psych-motoric-noise-rock from Russia. They just chuck it all together and it comes out in transcendent form. Free download:

1 – 'Castlemania' is really good, as ever. Like the new sneery nasal vocal style, a couple sound like it actually is Rocky Erickson singing. Dwyer is one of my heroes, if I have any - was going to see them on the 27^th, have to go away for work. Fucking shit it.

2 – 'New Omni-Directional Healing Techniques' out on Debacle Records is insanely deep shape-shifting pastoral electronic hypnagogic drone.

3 – 'Air Museum' is possibly even better than 'Choral' – sends its acoustic instruments through analogue effects and a real studio instead of digital and a little home set up and sounds all the more lush and detailed for it.

4 – psyching up for the ritual of the Outer Church on Wednesday with a load of releases from the last couple of years. In their words: "Cornwall’s foremost slurtronic collective"

6b – I don't listen to 'House of Balloons' enough, it's awesome.

8a – Intensely heavy, ultra fast double kick laced atmospheric doom from Ireland. New album 'Mammal' out on Profound Lore – so that's one of the most interesting bands around releasing a record that eclipses their previous, coupled with one of the most consistently excellent labels. Good things.

10 – fucking nasty grimy blackened spite metal from California.

1 – Surprised this is only 51 listens. Beautifully restrained, sensually epic, glacially cool and hotter than the sun.

2 – couple of dirty little ratbags making nihilistic punk flecked black metal like Bone Awl but taking the piss a little bit more and adding an LA take on Dead Reptile Shrine's folk wyrdness with it.

3 – new album is totally different to Five Roses, but also similar. Drastically similar? It's just as lush but a lot more electronic – sort of Chillwavey...sort of. Hold off the hounds.

4a – Brilliant retro rock that sounds a lot like the Stones. Each side starts slow, builds into some rocking riffy ultra-catchy numbers then slides out on a long sitar lead instrumental. Dozy, smoky ever so slightly dopey – but then they're called The Donkeys innit.

4b – think this guy is going to blow up big in a blog style (if that's still a thing to say). Noisy no-wave electro-pop. Think Cold Cave/Blank Dogs and an indeterminably intriguing something else.

6 – Ex Jackie-O-Motherfucker bassist makes folk music of her own, hibernates with spectral forces, re-emerges with a new album of ghost-loops and haunted chanting. NNF Power.

7a – Brighton based noise rock band about to release an EP on Italian Beach Babes. Got pulse, got riffs, got maxxxed up volume.

7b – Did somebody say we're not allowed to call records 'Summer albums'? Meh. This is coming into its own.

9 – Another retro rock band; garage psych, nicely chilled and less of a racket than previous releases. For me, this easily has their best songs on it.

10 – Very heavy, intense instrumental drone album – walls of tone. A Storm Petrel is a bird that can handle the worst the sea has to throw at it. Fitting metaphor.

1b – Mazes amazes. It's very good, blues based hypno-drone heavily vibed out on VU & Suicide. The kind of band that makes me use the V word.
3a- even though this new album isn't that exciting, it does have a killer finish , and I can't dislike anything by The Ravonettes.
3B – Listening to Sleeping Peonies romantic shoegaze black metal and then playing The Ravonettes straight after confused the shit out of me; they're really not that different. New album comes wrapped in pink lace – not your usual BM in any way, but then BM doesn't usually hail from Norfolk.

1 – Cosmic vibrations / Hypnogogic amazements. You can see from the number how much I like this, and there's only 9 tracks. The guitar line in the title track has a funky nostalgic shimmer-groove down hard.

2 – New free ep out of nowhere. Josh from velvet Cacoon. Perfect black metal in 3 minute po song sizes. Luxurious.

3 – really like this new ep. The last black metal track is absurd.

4 – 'nother free album of incredible BM, this time like nothing ever – deeply ingrained oriental influences throughout, like Fell Voices – at a push.

5 – more freeness – Affilyated 'regrinds' of Relayted tracks. Such a cool concept to this, the results are a spectacular as the originals, sometimes more so for different reasons.  You need this NOW.

6 – You also need this in your life if you don;t have it already. One of the rare albums that will improve your lot through listening

7a – new album is too too beautiful by far. Burst my heart apart on it three times.

7B – this is such a great album too, every track pumps the blood through your veins twice as hard as the last

9 –  ridiculously young talent, trotted the globe and come back with this at just 19. Ambient kraut, or something.

10 – last but by no means least – Umesh Amtey of Brown Jenkins new band's demo ep – next level disorienting funeral doom.
