VIDEO: ∆AIMON - EXU REI

Following on from my review of ∆AIMON's excellent Amen album, here's a video for the closing track EXU REI.  Video has been put together by Scumbag Movies.  Suitably overdriven colour washes, abstracted footage and general dysphoria. Lovely.

DOWNLOAD: Endless Endless Endless - I.S.S

This is the first in an ongoing series of tracks to be released under the I.S.S. title - Indefinite Single Series. For a band named Endless Endless Endless, Indefinite is the least they could offer.  They'll be releasing a number of tracks every week, all recently recording.  This first episode was all, bar the first track, taped within the last fortnight. So this looks like it will be a rolling document of the band, and if this first missive is anything to go by (plus their previous releases), listening in to each new updfate should become an addictively rewarding experience.

I've posted about these guys before on the release of the Tired Trails tape- a Brooklyn based duo of semi-improvised cosmic droners, building a solar bridge between Emeralds and its constituant parts back to the forefathers like Popul Vuh and Tangerine Dream. Deep meditations on tone themes, unravelled slowly across a firmament studded with beats and bit of vocal fragment, comets tails of samples swishing through the mix.  All exactly my kind of thing, every trance inducing head shaking second of it.

These recrdings are all headed for physical releases of differnet forms - the first related cassingle will be out fairly soon with Temple South out of Brooklyn and the band are working on an longer tape as well, but no format or label has been determined as yet, but keep your antennea aimed in this direction and I'll be sure to pass on the next set of incoming transmissions.

DOWNLOAD: Junk Disrupt - NFR Mix 01:10

So here we are; big post number 100!

To mark this momentous occasion we are starting off our new monthly download mix series with a unique combination of basslines and contact mics:

Certain musics lend themselves well to each other in concept, but whether that means they should ever be put together in reality is another matter entirely. For this mix I combined textures from across the tracks – the clean and elegant timbres of soul intoned dubstep with the soil rolled dirt of electrified feral atmospherics. Plus a mind-flipping twist in the middle hopefully. It’s taken me a long time to realise that I could blend these together, and there are a few places where it works better than I could have hoped – the grimy sawtooth frequencies of Family Battle Snake that puncture the Untold track; the way the violins in Endless Falls tie Pangea and Joy Orbison together, adding a melancholy hum that enhances the soul elements of both tracks further. We didn't save this for our hundredth post for no reason! Now, if only I could properly beatmatch I would be dangerous.

Thanks for downloading. Enjoy!

If Spiritualised and The Brian Jonestown Massacre ever got together people would say they were ripping off these guys! They had a record out last year called "Universal Indians"
