Four versions of Malibu Hounds reworked into altered states of consciousness by the God of Blues himself. For all the equatorial heat the repeated 'Malibu' may imply, this starts off with We All Wring Our Hands; a howling icy blast of chill-whipped distortion, a billowing gale of wintery atmosphere that blasts right out the speakers, deep into the marrow of your bones, followed up by 17 minutes of sparse beat spiked blizzard in the Fork It Over mix. The muted patter of beats doesnl;t have to move much under such harsh conditions in order to make its presence felt it's sinisterly effective and locks your attention into it for its full unyielding length. The third reworking is more spacious - Skeptic Sleeper bleeds heat and light in by chopping and glitching about a bit, fluttering clap beats batting gasps of air out of the suffocating chaos. The final 20 minuter Dreamstation begins ever so slowly, a space-crawl out into a glittering cosmos of suspended breath ambience. Clouds of vapour coalesce, as the starship begins its descent, burning and charring through the atmosphere before slowly floating down amidst smoky pallor. One of the heaviest and greatest of Malibu Wands releases to date.

Malibu Wands, aka Gremlynz, aka Pink Priest, aka God of Blues releases this new long one, sparse and wintery minimal drone track in homage and dedication to Varg Vikernes, aka Count Grishnak, aka Burzum.

In the 'Wands' own words:

"This is you in the icy wind, fucked, and pessimistic, looking for a glimmer of hope, with all your personal demons kicking snow in your face."

Gremlynz - I Have To Be Leaving / Crystal Hexes

Two new preview tracks from upcoming releases of the Gremlynz incarnation of Pink Priest.  The first is I Have To Be Leaving due to come out as a Beko / La Station Radar label collaboration (coming up next).   The second is an excerpt from the track Crystal Hexes - a 32 minute tape to be released on Family Time which he describes as"if previous Gremlynz sound was "being dropped into 10,000 gallons of water," Crystal Hexes is more like
"getting caught in a heavy downpour while walking down the street.""
It's quite an apt description, which can be romanticised further if you imagine it in black and white so the distorting contrast blurs your vision even further, shapes shifting about the enveloping liquid static.

There's a lengthy, detailed description of all he's been getting up to and what's in store for his three or four (or three) projects over on his God of Blues blog.

Gremlynz - White Rot

Reposted from God of Blues, because this is as ace and eerie as waking up and finding the world empty.

So I'm coming up off this Gremlynz release that I recorded at the beginning of this month. I'm hanging out, it's 7AM, highly early fuckin weirdo time for me. There's rain pounding down outside, and a calming, cool has set in. There's a fucked up, ominous, eerie ambiance that surrounds my hometown, which I've had to move back to recently -- unfortunately. I can't explain it. Maybe it's a vibe that everyone feels in their hometown, but I like to think that that's just this place. I like to link there truly is a reason for the freaky vibes, like maybe it was developed over an ancient burial ground or something that presents some vague sense of terror on some level.

Done a lot of walking around the past few days, and watching these rust colored leaves drop and tussle with the wind has been a delight, but that odd, creepy atmosphere won't leave. I'm totally ok with it. I actually embrace it. It's a part of my psyché, and without it, without that odd zone to crawl into and take in, I don't think releases like this would be possible. That feeling is sort of necessary, I feel.

Cut out and keep
