STREAM: Halls x Sun Glitters - Swan / There

The enigmatic London based electronic producer Halls releases new jams alongside Sun Glitters, and the two remix each other. World spins slightly slower at a more distant angle. Light refracts softly, time locks in a disembodied loop of your own inner experience.  Beyond lush.

This London based duo have produced four releases in the last six months, pouring music from their third eye of creativity at healthy rate - all available to download from their Bandcamp, as well as real world formats. As they say themselves "Deekie make music fast."

Fast, but unhurried.

This new one is four tracks, opening with a softly looping misty-eyed glacially toned vocal drone and finishing with a heavy lidded twilight male vocal piece with quiet melodica there's a sweetly dreamy innocence pervasive through the music.  Combined with the childish font of their name and the sparse cover you could mistake the minimalism for amateur simplicity, but there's a sophisticated and complex understanding of their musical craft, the simple ideas of the songs reproduce until they are complex organisms by the time the tracks conclude; a see-saw hum and swaying melody echoing elegantly into intensifying infinity, galloping beats spreading out through tracks like ripples exacerbating the momentum of their own patterns.

Lovely stuff.

DOWNLOAD: GuMMy†Be▲R! - HAARP (Grey Tongue Remix)

GuMMy†Be▲R!
has a new remix up on his Soundcloud from my mix cover design man and other half in Potemkjin Village - Chris Makes - under his remixer guise of Grey Tongue. Witch House meets glitch, glitch eats witch house, dances about with limbs swinging round it's head, meat hanging out it's mouth, looking all wild eyed, twitchy and lunatic. Composes itself briefly then has a roll about kicking up more carnage.

Las Vegas 8-bit sonic bastardiser Jason Holmes' fourth release as Mother Network is his first contribution to the infamous nintendocore scene: 16 tracks of br00tal chiptune and grindcore based on the videogames he grew to love. These instrumentals are intended for a full album with added vocals entitled We Get Signal, due out some time in the summer.  His previous work flows through a range of psychedelic ambience, but this is his first proper booted up fingers in sockets super frazzled electro firecracker.  And it is all those things.

DOWNLOAD: Daterape - Machaevol and Cold Remains Eps

If you couldn't stomach the idea of a joke genre called rapegaze then you might blanch at a band called Daterape - but juvenile name or not, you'd be missing out if you didn't check out at least one of the tracks available to you. Two eps - Machaevol and Cold Remains - are up for free download from this mediafire link - all gone from their Bandcamp source but the artist has made them available here:

Check out Cold Remains and see if this doesn't have the kind of chill pulse that switched you on to the the occult rhythic twitch of witch house in the first place. It also has a similar swirling sigh that characterised Holy Other's own brand of cosmic drag - making that three ephemeral genre's I've thrown at you in the space of two paragraphs - but you can replace them all with a simple electronica if it makes you feel better. If you can handle them you should get a lot out of the eight tracks on offer here.

Fingerprint Series

A series of 10 tracks originally recorded and released between May and December 2010 from this intriguing electronic artist.  Futuristic with that warm analgue retroism that travels through Drexciya and Autechre to land it in the same curious cosmic space as fellow Irishmen, (and all fellow Dubliners too I think) Moths, Vision Air and Solar Bears - they say two is a coincidence and three is a movement, so dare we call out this New Wave of Irish Electronica as one of 2011's major happenings? NWIE anyone? This year's Skwee? Could be.

The album download includes individual photographic artworks for each track that go some way to illustrating the music in each track, from midnight helicopter chases to moody landscapes to church burnings.

Here's the opening jawdropper Serbia to convince you to get this. The rhythm keeps snaking over itself with a never ending supply of chrome hooks and silvery sounds, a loosely pulsing beat.
